The Collaborators are moving forward aggressively. The group attending the second meeting (April 13th) was comprised of about ten returnee and four new collaborators. Rick suggested a documentary idea that the group discussed in creative and logistical terms. Ryan brought a script. Lydia provided focus on where we are going. Mike served devil's advocate on creative angles. John reinterpreted creative visions and ideas with fine articulation.
We will meet again, as always, on the 13th. Next month (May 2005) we will conduct script readings (up to 4 pages of dialogue, bring it with you). We will take a closer look at roles in a shoot, comparing documentary to dramatic platform. We will look at our potential documentary funding and we will consider this as our first shoot, while other projects are in development. Most of all, we will continue to become inspired to make Manitoba film, above the escarpment. Shandra will invite a colleague to conduct a lighting workshop at his earliest convenience. Nancy will contact Film Training Manitoba to see if we can get a ream of sample budgets and production office reports for people to review, during the social phase of the next gathering of the Collaborators. All are welcome to attend the meetings of the Collaborators. As time passes and projects become actively funded, stand-alone project meetings and tasks will happen, but the overall meetings will continue at Second Troy.
