2005 Hey everyone,
Please read through the whole letter. I know it's a bit
long, but it's
important.
This Saturday, the 4th of June will be Sundog 6. It
will also be the
last big evening event at Second Troy. There are a
number of reasons
we have to start looking for a new home, the most
important of which
is the landlord's inability to reconcile himself to the
sheer amount
of traffic we are having come through the place. There
has been a
significant increase in the number of events, concerts,
spontaneous
happenings and meetings and all that is
great news for the heart of the place. But, for the
meantime I have
to negotiate some kind of temporary agreement with the
landlord so
that we can keep things moving towards our goal of self
sufficiency and
community involvement. Right now my priority is making
sure the
Summer Workshop and Performance series is protected and
will still
happen as planned and that the search for a new space
gets going
before we truly overstay our welcome. My thoughts are
that this may
be the best thing that's happened. We might find a new
home with ground level access, something with bigger
windows, maybe a
full kitchen......the possibilities are endless!
Thank you for everyone who continues to be involved,
interested and active!
.
What all this means in the short term is that a few
events will have
to be moved or suspended. Meetings will still go ahead
as planned
given the land lord's approval of my plan (which I will
be presenting
to him at the end of the week).
The gist is, please come down on Saturday next (the 4th)
and enjoy one
of the best things to happen at Second Troy - the Sundog
readings. It
was the first big thing we ever did and it only seems
fitting that it
will be one of the last in Second Troy's current home.
I look forward to seeing you there. We can talk more
then.
Any ideas of leads - feel free to drop me a line.
Take care,
Shandra

June 11, 2005
Hi everyone!
Just a few things -
Monday, June 13th, 8pm. Collaborators Meeting
To discuss the summer film workshops I've lined up for
everyone, potential film projects we can get started on
and everything else I'm not remembering that we said
we'd talk about. We're very near to actually diving
into some work so hang in there. We did not have enough
people to choose projects at the last meeting so there's
still a chance!
Please
RSVP for this meeting as Nancy has to take time
off and drive in from out of town to make it and if
there aren't going to be more than three people in
attendance we'll have to re-schedule. Thanks!
On Thursday night there'll be a little get together at
the space, 8pm, to celebrate the grant being approved
(hopefully the grant is approved) for the
workshop/performance series this summer. Feel free to
drop by, bring some munchies....whatever. I'll be there
with a grin on my face (hopefully) and a clip board full
of volunteer names (hopefully).
Lastly, we have a raffle in the works. I'm looking for
donations of time, work, objects for prizes. So far we
have - something made by my parents, a serenade to a
location of your choice from Jan, Laurie is going to
contribute either a poem or a Traditional Jewish brunch
depending on what the winner opts for.....a poem from
Kate...what else...we need a few more things though.
Baking? Picnic lunch? A song? The winners will be
able to pick the prize they want in order that the names
are drawn. This is a rent making project. Help.
Okay, that wasn't lastly. We have Second Troy t-shirts
we're taking orders on now. Available in every size.
Black on White. Front and back. If you want to see
pictures will eventually be up on the web site or there
are pictures on the door to the space, with order
forms. They're $20, no tax. A great way to support
Second Troy as we transition out of our current space
and into our new one.
Thanks for bearing with me. Hope to see you Monday or
Thursday!
