Winner of the First Round is Tara Solheim
May 15th, 2005, 2nd deadline
Second Troy and
are pleased and excited to
announce the opening of our Chapbook competition. We invite both visual and
literary works to be submitted to our ad-hoc group of writers, artists and
people generally appreciative of art who will then team a writer and artist
whose work is complementary in some way. The writer and artist will then be
asked to submit a complete work to be published in Chapbook form. We’ll
stick it all together and then we’ll throw a launch party! The published
artists will be known far and wide, they’ll glory in their own ten copies
of the book, they’ll get a cut of any that sell, and they’ll be
supporting the publication of more books like this as well as future non-profit
projects taken on my Second Troy.
Eligibility – Anyone, everyone. Published, unpublished.
Work submitted must be unpublished and original. Otherwise, anything goes.
Submit – Writing can be prose, short fiction, creative non-fiction,
poetry, essay, ramblings, letters, small random words taken from graffiti,
anything really.
Prose, non-fiction and the like should submit 3-5 pages
Poetry should submit roughly 4 poems
Submit – Artwork has to be able to be reproduced in black and white,
whether it’s photography, charcoal drawings, collage, cartoon, pen and
ink, pencil, paint or pictures of sculpture.
Artists should submit a minimum of 4 pictures of works to be reproduced in
the books. We cannot be responsible for originals because we’re a bit
disorganized and have no insurance. Sorry.
A one-time fee of $5.00 is asked for, but if you want to submit one poetry
package, one creative non-fiction and one batch of photographs, it will all
only cost you $5.00. All fees will go towards cost of publication. Artists
retain all copyrights.
Books will be released quarterly, so there are four chances to get your work
in this year.
