Shandra & Marliyn MacNeill–  facilitators, Brandon
Something old, Something New
Fashion, Costume & Fibre Arts

This is a two part workshop lasting the whole day. The First half of the day will be spent sharing items brought by participants for a fabric/clothing/scrap exchange. Have a closet full of great clothes you never wear? A basement full of fabric and trims? Vintage or Antique textiles with some problems? Bring them with you along with one item of clothing you will use as a ‘base’ for the workshop’s project. After we dig through the pile of goodies we’ll plan what kind of beautiful and wild textile creation we’ll make in the second half of the workshop.

Anyone with a traveling sewing machine is asked if they could bring it. Any supplies of spare thread, dye, trim, embroidery floss, fabric paint...or anything else we might be able to use are welcome. The idea is to leave the workshop with a completed or near completed fabulous creation, be it a gown, a costume, a cloak, or a fanciful t0shirt. Couture sensibility and quirky techniques. Those with textile experience and those with none are welcome. We will be pooling our resources to create these garment, both skill-wise and materials.

Opening Party for the group show that will hang for the duration of the workshops. Everyone welcome.
